At Phoenix, we are always looking to introduce new products and innovative concepts into the Western market. We re-branded the world-famous Zhangguang 101 brand as Herbal Hair, with an effective advanced formula to help those suffering from hair loss conditions.
Herbal Hair products are produced in China, manufactured by the Beijing Zhangguang 101 Science and Technology Company, a world-famous medicinal hair tonic brand. Zhangguang 101 is the pioneer and leading brand in the hair regrowth industry in China for over 40 years. They hold the longest development history, strongest influence, and largest market share in the East.
So, where did this all begin, and what is the science behind the success of Herbal Hair and Zhangguang 101?
Where it all started
The founding brand was innovated and developed in 1974 by a medical practitioner, Dr Zhangguang Zhao. His vision was to invent medicine to help people suffering from hair loss with his knowledge of Chinese herbs for treatment, which he had learnt from his father, also a traditional Chinese doctor.
Dr Zhao then began his detailed research on a hair growth formula. This saw the birth of Zhangguang 101 products, an advanced range of tonics created with traditional Chinese herbs.
Between 1986 and 2003, Zhangguang 101 was being widely utilised at the clinic level, with a 97.5% effective rate and 84.8% cure rate for hair loss conditions. The formula passed the relevant technical department assessment and received over 7 international awards for invention and technology.

Since the collaboration with Phoenix Medical in 2014, Zhangguang 101 has been rebranded for the Western market as Herbal Hair. Phoenix is the exclusive distributor in the UK and Europe for 101 products.
Fast forward into the present day, the Herbal Hair product range has been expanded with growing success. This has led to more successful formulas being developed for practitioners and patients suffering from hair loss, thinning and scalp conditions.
How do the products work?
The Herbal Hair formula is refined from various precious Chinese herbs, such as Bai Shao Yao (White Peony Root), Ren Shen (Chinese sage), Dan Shen (Ginseng), Gan Jiang (Ginger) and many others.

The herbal formulas not only help to re-grow new hair but also strengthens and nourishes the existing hair from future hair loss.
Directions for use:
- Use 10ml of tonic once a day

The products are available in 120ml bottles or packs of 30 x 10ml for easier application.
As the natural hair cycle is around 3 months, it is fundamental that patients follow the instructions for 3 months to notice a remarkable difference. We recommended using 2/3 sessions over 9 months to achieve the desired results – depending on the hair and scalp condition.
We recommend combining the above products, depending on the hair type and hair loss, for the best results. We have devised a recommended treatment document, which can help with choosing the correct products.
For most cases, we recommend using the Loss Prevention Tonic, followed by the Follicle Cleanse Tonic and lastly, the Follicle Feed Tonic.
