The Coronavirus pandemic has brought many changes and has caused many people to rethink how they operate, including Phoenix Academy. Because of this, we have decided to overhaul our old Chinese herbal medicine diploma and introduce a new virtual learning experience.
Phoenix Academy Virtual Chinese Herbal Medicine Diploma
Chinese medicine is not provided through primary healthcare systems in the West, so training can be very limited – especially now that many universities and colleges have stopped their Chinese medicine courses. In the UK, education in herbal medicine is now more threatened than ever before. Phoenix Academy hopes to change that.
Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture work in synergy. Without herbal medicine, acupuncture can only achieve limited clinical results. Our new Virtual Chinese Herbal Medicine Diploma is designed for acupuncturists who want to expand their TCM by following on with herbal medicine.
The new and improved diploma will be taught virtually on Zoom by Dr Zan Yu Chen. Students will be taught the fundamentals of Chinese herbal medicine online in fortnightly sessions. The course will teach 10 modules over 10 months, followed by an open book exam. Upon completion, students will be able to practice Chinese herbal medicine and will become members of the Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners (FTCMP), who accredits the course.
How the course works:
- 10 modules will be taught over 20 three hour sessions
- The course will be taught via Zoom on fortnightly Sunday evenings: 6pm – 9pm
- Students must complete at least 8 modules to pass the course
- The accessible diploma will combine online tutoring and offline support
- Dr Zan Yu Chen will teach commonly used herbs and formulas to ensure students understand which herbs are used, but more importantly, why they are used to ensure a deeper understanding of Chinese herbal medicine
Our parent company, Phoenix Medical, has committed to providing a £1,000 scholarship to each student who enrols for the 2020/2021 cohort. Course fees will be £995 after deducting the scholarship fund. Phoenix Medical hopes that by injecting investment into herbal medicine, more practitioners will be able to provide the vast benefits of herbal medicine to the western community. It seems that we need it now more than ever.
Please note: the scholarship is only applicable for healthcare professionals. Students who do not have the relevant qualifications must pay the full fee of £1995.
